America’s largest injury law firm – Morgan & Morgan

Morgan & Morgan company is “The America’s largest Injury Law Firm.” Orlando serves as the home base for Morgan & Morgan. The law firm employed about 3,000 people in 49 states as of 2022, including 800 lawyers. In addition over two million phone conversations and 500 new lawsuits signed every day in 2018. In that same year, the company paid out $130 million in national advertising and received $1.5 billion in settlement payments. Morgan was among the first attorneys to place ads in television commercials and phone books.

American lawyer John Bryan Morgan was born on March 31, 1956. His most famous accomplishment is founding Morgan & Morgan, a personal injury legal company. Morgan referred as “a Democratic fundraiser and the godfather of Florida’s medical marijuana amendment” in political terms.

Early legal career

Morgan started his legal career in the Orlando law firm of Billings, Morgan (no relation) and Cunningham after earning his law degree in 1982. After that in 1985, he departed to form the legal practice Griffin, Morgan & Linder, a collaboration that persisted for an additional three years. The partners had different opinions on marketing, according to Florida Trend. Morgan, in particular, pushed on television advertising, which was controversial for attorneys at the time.

Especially, it was one of the founding partners of Morgan, Colling & Gilbert from 1988 to 2005. To the chagrin of the legal profession, the law firm started an aggressive television and radio advertising campaign in 1989. The business also engaged in the practice of luring elite young attorneys away from other legal firms. The firm hired 420 people in the early 2000s and grew throughout Florida. By 2013, it employed 1,800 people across Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Kentucky, and Manhattan, with 260 attorneys.

Morgan acquired his partners’ stake in the business in 2005, renaming it Morgan & Morgan and appointing his wife Ultima as a partner. Matt, Mike, and Dan, three of his children, subsequently became attorneys in the firm.

Morgan’s law business let go of half of its marketing staff in 2021. The notorious national advertising campaign, “Size Matters,” which was intended to portray the firm’s huge scale but was regarded as an inappropriate dick joke, preceded the employment purge. The sacked employees had objected to the phallic overtones of the advertising campaign.

Despite this in 2018, Morgan & Morgan involved in a major lawsuit against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, a class action lawsuit against a data broker, Exactis, over a data breach, the Daytona Beach Rollercoaster Incident, the Tampa Walgreens Sexual Harassment case, a twenty-two million dollar case against Healogics Inc., and several other notable legal cases.

Later Morgan starred in his company’s metaverse-based commercial in August 2022.
